As the UK’s leading ports group, operating 21 locations and handling around 100 million tonnes of cargo every year, we are a vital enabler of trade, offshore wind, and the UK’s net zero transition.

To deliver on this ambition, we are growing our Major Projects team – the engine room for developing and delivering complex, high-value port infrastructure projects that shape the future of the UK’s energy transition.

We are seeking a specialist Project Manager to lead critical elements of our Future Port Talbot programme, with a particular focus on Marine Infrastructure.

The Role

As a Project Manager in our Future Port Talbot programme, you will take responsibility for a significant and programme-critical package of marine infrastructure expected to exceed £500m CAPEX. This package includes:

Quay wall development

Capital dredging

Land reclamation

Wet storage solutions for offshore storage of floating wind turbine components

You’ll lead a multi-disciplinary team from strategic definition through to operational handover, collaborating closely with internal teams, consultants, contractors, statutory bodies and customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the integrated project team to deliver the business case and optimise return on investment.

• Oversee planning, design, procurement, consenting and delivery of large-scale marine infrastructure.

• Develop project execution and stakeholder engagement strategies, ensuring robust support from regulators, communities and commercial partners.

• Drive performance of contractors and consultants, securing best value in delivery.

• Manage risk, budget, schedule and resources effectively, ensuring health, safety and sustainability remain at the core of delivery.

• Champion best practice in marine project management, embedding learnings into future schemes.

About You

Essential:

• Proven track record in the successful development and delivery of major marine civil engineering or port infrastructure projects valued at £20m+.

• Strong understanding of marine consenting processes and statutory stakeholder engagement.

• Experience in dredging, quay wall, land reclamation, or other large-scale marine works.

• Skilled leader with the ability to manage cross-functional teams and high-performing delivery partners.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage senior stakeholders, regulators, and communities.

• Flexibility to travel to ABP ports, project locations and partner offices across the UK.

Desirable:

• Degree in civil engineering, marine engineering, or project management.

• Chartered status (e.g. CEng, MAPM).

• Experience of Floating Offshore Wind (FLOW), energy generation or nationally significant infrastructure projects.

• Knowledge of environmental regulations and marine ecology.

Why Join ABP?

• Shape one of the largest marine infrastructure investments in the UK.

• Be at the forefront of the UK’s floating offshore wind revolution.

• Work on projects of genuine national importance, with huge scale and complexity.

• Competitive salary and benefits package.
