About Company

Heathrow is a city within a city, through which millions of passengers travel every year. In Operational Planning, our goal is to give passengers the best airport service in the world, in an environment where change is constant.

Join us and you’ll become part of an exciting and fast-paced team that keeps the airport running smoothly. Whether it's using data and strategy to predict and plan for events, responding to unexpected disruptions, or working closely with Airport Operations Control and airlines to optimise flight schedules and reduce delays, you’ll make a real difference to the experience of countless passengers.

Together, we’re responsible for creating the right planning proposition, from defining roles to building rosters, and delivering an effective plan every day. It’s about understanding our capacity and making best use of it. And about evaluating our performance every day, so we can continuously improve. Every day will test your skills and give you the opportunity to make your mark at one of the busiest airports in the world.  Join us and discover a one-of-a-kind career.

Company

Heathrow is an amazing backdrop to a career filled with unique opportunities.  You’ll undertake three six-month placements over the course of 18 months. These will expose you to our business from the frontline to the boardroom and enable you to acquire essential leadership, commercial and project management skills.

•            Operational placement

Through collaborating with our colleagues and carrying out projects in the operation, you will be able to get a real understanding of how we run one of the world’s busiest airports in areas like passenger services, operational planning and security.

•            Non-Operational placement

This will typically be in an area like our Customer function (such as retail, marketing or airline engagement),  Solutions (such data, process improvement or PMO), Strategy (such as planning, forecasting, data insights, communications or sustainability), where the projects you work on will give you real insight into how we develop and deliver solutions to support our passengers and be a profitable business.

•            Tailored placement

Your third and final placement will involve opportunities to hone your project management skills. The type of role will depend on your personal strengths and preferences.  We’ll work with you to find a placement that stretches and challenges you, whilst helping develop your strengths.

Supporting you for success

Heathrow is a place where everybody belongs – and there are no limits on what you can achieve. Throughout the programme you will be supported by a dedicated mentor who can answer any questions you may have about the organisation and help you find solutions to any challenges you may face. Plus, you will have a ‘buddy’ to show you the ropes until you find your feet. In the final months of the programme, you will also have the support of a senior sponsor from our leadership team. They will be there to help you build your networks, challenge your thinking and unlock opportunities.

You will also go through a structured learning programme, providing you with all the tools to build a career at Heathrow. From here you can go anywhere.

Where do you take your career next after completing the scheme? The possibilities are almost endless. Previous graduates have gone into every area of our business, from frontline operations to infrastructure development, to one of our award-winning head office teams.
