Job Title: Data Centre Coordinator Location: Markham,Ontario Job Type: Full-Time, on-site at Markham. On-call & after office hours as required
Summary: The Data Centre Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the data centre, ensuring uptime, security, and compliance with standards. This role involves monitoring performance, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, supporting client requirements, and maintaining accurate operational documentation. Success in this role is measured through uptime, reliability, compliance, process accuracy, and timely delivery of services.
Responsibilities: Operations & Monitoring
Monitor overall data centre performance; analyze and recommend improvements or upgrades.
Respond to and escalate alarms; troubleshoot electrical/mechanical issues with Facilities.
Manage backups, disaster recovery operations, and data security with cross-location teams.
Support implementation and maintenance of IT security, data privacy, and risk policies.
Client & Vendor Support
Consult clients on power, cooling, and air-handling requirements; assist with new installations.
Perform Ethernet and fiber patch cabling for internal and customer use.
Act as liaison between clients, vendors, and internal teams to ensure seamless coordination.
Compliance & Security
Monitor data centre physical security, access logs, and adherence to compliance standards (ISO 27001, SOC 2, etc.).
Support quarterly and annual inventory audits; ensure adherence to privacy and security policies.
Asset & Documentation Management
Maintain accurate asset inventory records, including asset tagging and equipment tracking.
Maintain site drawings up to rack level; keep all documentation current.
Develop, update, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and process documentation.
Project Coordination (as required)
Assist with planning, scheduling, and coordinating deliverables for clients within defined timelines.
Organize project meetings, prepare agendas, distribute minutes, and track follow-ups.
Support preparation of reports, proposals, and project documentation.
Act as communication bridge between project teams and departments.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Diploma/degree in IT, Computer Science, or related technical field.
2–4 years’ experience in data centre operations, IT infrastructure support, or coordination roles.
Working knowledge of data centre infrastructure: UPS, generators, HVAC/CRAC, PDUs, patch cabling.
Familiarity with ITIL processes (incident, change, and problem management).
Strong organizational, prioritization, and documentation skills.
Good understanding of IT principles and systems; experience with project management tools is an asset.
