Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior QA Automation Engineer with strong expertise in Playwright using Python to support federal application modernization projects. The ideal candidate will be skilled in both automation and manual testing, with experience building scalable test frameworks, writing clear test cases, and ensuring stable, high-quality software delivery. This role will focus on automated testing of web applications and APIs, CI/CD integration, and QA process improvement. This position is hybrid and will require on-site presence in Rockville, MD. The ability to obtain and retain a Public Trust Level 4 clearance is required for consideration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Testing Efforts: Drive both manual and automated testing across multiple applications to validate new product features before release.
  • Build Automation Frameworks: Design and implement robust, scalable automation frameworks with a strong quality-first approach.
  • Optimize QA Processes: Establish reliable, repeatable QA processes leveraging automation, load, and performance testing.
  • Ensure Stability & Performance: Develop test plans, execute functional, integration, and regression testing, and troubleshoot issues effectively.
  • Enhance Customer Experience: Proactively recommend improvements and ensure seamless user experience across all touchpoints.
  • Develop and execute manual test cases and test plans to validate functionality, edge cases, and user experience.
  • Document test cases, steps, expected results, and traceability to requirements.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps).
  • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and product owners to translate acceptance criteria into executable automated tests.
  • Provide smoke test support for releases and validate test environments for readiness.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and provide QA perspective on effort and readiness.
  • Contribute to 508 accessibility validation and awareness of security testing considerations.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in QA, including at least 3+ years in test automation.
  • Proven expertise in API testing.
  • Proficiency in testing with Playwright writing test scripts in Python.
  • Strong experience in manual testing and test case writing.
  • Solid knowledge of SDLC, Agile methodologies, automation frameworks, databases, and Python programming.
  • Proficiency with Git, Jira, and DevOps pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience integrating automation with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps.
  • Familiarity with REST API validation and test automation design patterns (e.g., Page Object Model, data-driven testing).
  • Familiarity with cloud-based test execution
  • Exposure to performance testing tools

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary Range: $120,000 – $140,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience.
