The Assistant Controller is responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting operations of the Company, including general ledger activities, financial reporting, and cost accounting. This role plays a pivotal position in supporting the transition to an updated ERP system and will assume core operational and cost accounting responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting Operations
·         Lead daily accounting functions including journal entries (including payroll-
related entries), reconciliations, accruals, and account analysis.
·         Oversee   and   support   accounts   payable   and   receivable   processes   in collaboration with the AP/AR Manager.
·         Manage month-end and year-end close procedures, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
·         Prepare and review standard financial reports: P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow including budget variance reporting and analysis.
Cost Accounting
·         Oversee cost accounting manufacturing and supply chain processes including raw material costing, variance analysis, BOM validations, freight and logistics requirements.
·         Monitor and analyze cost trends and variances and collaborate with Manufacturing and Inventory Controls Manager to support inventory and production efficiency.
·         Collaborate with sales and operations teams as directed to develop and maintain actionable decision support tools.
 System Implementations
·         Support the implementation and transition to an updated ERP system.
·         Lead cross-functional teams in end-to-end CMMS implementation and ensure seamless ERP integration.
Compliance
·         Maintain, monitor, and continuously enhance internal controls to ensure compliance with company accounting policies, GAAP, and relevant tax and regulatory requirements.
·         Oversee compliance areas including sales tax, property tax, R&D tax credits, and distributions.
·         Lead Support for internal and external audits responsible for document preparation, accurate financial reporting, and responses to audit inquiries.
·         Proactively identify opportunities to strengthen compliance, mitigate risks, and improve efficiency in accounting and financial reporting processes.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Education and Experience
·         Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
·         4-6 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally including cost accounting in a manufacturing environment.
·         Background may include:
o    Senior Accountant ready to step into a leadership role, or
o    1-2 years of experience as an Assistant Controller or Accounting Manager seeking broader responsibility.
·         Demonstrated   understanding   and   application   of   GAAP   principles   in   a manufacturing environment.
·         Demonstrated understanding and oversite of AR, AP processes.
·         Proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
·         ERP implementation experience preferred
·         Professional certification (CPA, CMA or equivalent) is not required, but considered a valuable asset.

·         Strong foundation in cost accounting, with the ability to analyze and clearly interpret cost trends to support operational decision-making.
·         Demonstrated leadership potential, with the ability to set the standard for junior team members and grow into broader management responsibilities.
·         Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
·         Proficiency in financial software, data visualization tools and ERP systems.
·         Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
·         Capable of leading projects independently and collaborating across functions.
·         Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
·         Strong ethical standards and integrity.
·         Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
