The Client Technology Officer (vCTO) serves as the strategic advisor and executive liaison for a portfolio of clients, bringing technical fluency and business insight together. This role is an evolution of the Client Experience path and operates at the highest level of trust with Charles IT's top-tier clients. The vCTO owns the maturity roadmap, facilitates audit preparedness, and drives high-level planning with C-suite stakeholders
We are not salespeople. We are strategic partners. Our vCTOs help clients proactively plan, budget, and align technology to business goals while also supporting regulatory and cybersecurity frameworks like CMMC, HIPAA, and FINRA.
Responsibilities
- Lead executive conversations focused on IT strategy, budget, compliance, and business goals
- Oversee client technology alignment across stack standardization, cybersecurity, and compliance
- Provide audit support for frameworks such as CMMC, HIPAA, and SOC 2
- Translate client business objectives into actionable technology strategies
- Lead annual roadmap planning and guide clients through lifecycle improvements
- Coordinate with Service, Projects, Compliance, and TAM teams to ensure full-spectrum support
- Maintain fluency in Charles IT standards, QBR frameworks, and strategic initiatives
- Assist with client escalations and guide risk management conversations with senior leadership
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
- 5+ years in a client-facing technical or strategic advisory role (MSP experience preferred)
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity, compliance, and IT infrastructure
- Experience guiding clients through audits, risk assessments, and budget planning
- Executive presence and proven ability to engage with C-level stakeholders
- Certifications such as CMMC-CCP, CISSP, or equivalent preferred
- Ability to pass a background check and hold a valid U.S. driver's license
