Job Summary:
Responsible for overall functioning of the Emergency department and facilitates/coordinates continuity of care for all patients served.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
· Oversee the daily workflow, staffing, orientation, training and development of employees within the department.
· Responsible for the ongoing quality/performance improvement processes related to patient care
· Facilitate committee meetings, Med/Surg staff meetings and participates on other committees, task forces as assigned.
· Display passion and optimism; inspire respect and trust; and provide vision and inspiration to peers and subordinates.
· Approach others in a tactful manner and treat others with respect and consideration.
· Required to work as a staff nurse, as needed, to ensure staffing coverage of department.

· Promote and support a collaborative team approach in providing care for all patients.
· Supervise, evaluate, interview, discipline and manages personnel assigned to department with support of Department Director.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILL/ABILITIES:
· Detailed knowledge of nursing practice and care delivery in terms of theories and practices to serve as the resource or educator to other practitioners in the nursing field.
AGE-RELATED COMPETENCIES: Demonstrates the basic knowledge and skills necessary to identify age-specific patient needs appropriate for this position.
Information Management: Treats all information and data within the scope of the position with appropriate confidentiality and security.

MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Ø Education – Graduate from an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
Ø Work Experience – Three years in acute care setting within department specific; supervisory experience required.
Ø Training – N/A
Ø License/Certification – Current New Mexico Nurse License; BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, where applicable per department required.
ENVIROMENTAL CONDITIONS: Work environment consists of daily patient contact, which may include exposure to blood, or other body fluids.
