Job Description:Job Title: Linux Server Administrator
Location: Bangalore (Hybrid Mode)

Position Overview
We are looking for a dedicated Linux Server Administrator with 4-8 years of hands-on experience to join our team in Bangalore. The ideal candidate should possess end-to-end expertise in building, maintaining, and administering Linux servers from scratch. This role is critical to ensuring the stability, security, and scalability of our server infrastructure, supporting business operations, and enabling innovation. Key Responsibilities
Linux Server Installation & Configuration: Design and deploy Linux-based server systems from scratch, including installation, partitioning, system initialization, and configuration of services according to best practices.
Server Administration & Management: Perform ongoing administration, patch management, and performance tuning for various Linux distributions (e.g., RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, Debian).
Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Proactively monitor server health, resource utilization, and logs; diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues promptly to ensure high availability.
Security Management: Implement robust security hardening practices, including firewall management, SELinux/AppArmor, vulnerability assessment, OS and application patching, and regular security audits.
Backup & Disaster Recovery: Develop, maintain, and routinely test backup and disaster recovery procedures for critical systems and data.
Automation & Scripting: Leverage scripting languages (Bash, Python, Perl, etc.) and automation tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef) to automate routine tasks, system provisioning, and configuration management.
User & Permission Management: Manage users, groups, privileges, SSH keys, and role-based access controls to ensure secure multi-user environments.
Capacity Planning & Scaling: Analyze current infrastructure usage, forecast future requirements, and architect scalable solutions for growth.
Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, processes, troubleshooting steps, and change management.
Collaboration: Work closely with development, DevOps, network, and security teams to support application deployment, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure projects.
Compliance & Best Practices: Ensure adherence to company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards for Linux server management.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
4-8 years of hands-on experience administering Linux servers in a production environment.
Strong foundational knowledge of Linux internals, filesystems, system boot process, and networking concepts.
Practical experience in building servers from scratch, including bare-metal and virtualized/cloud environments.
Expertise in configuring and managing core Linux services (Apache/Nginx, MySQL/PostgreSQL, DNS, DHCP, FTP, SSH, SMTP, etc.).
Deep understanding of system security, including firewalls (iptables/nftables), SELinux/AppArmor, intrusion detection, and vulnerability management.
Proficiency in shell scripting and automation of system administration tasks.
Familiarity with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, or Chef).
Experience with backup strategies, disaster recovery, and high-availability solutions.
Ability to troubleshoot complex system, network, or performance issues independently.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Ability to work in 24x7 rotational shifts and be available for on-call support as required.
Good-to-Have (Preferred) Skills
Certifications such as RHCSA, RHCE, LFCS, or LPIC.
Experience with public clouds (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and hybrid cloud environments.
Exposure to containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift).
Knowledge of virtualization platforms (KVM, VMware, Proxmox, etc.).
Understanding of Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) principles and tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
Experience with monitoring and alerting systems (Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus, Grafana).
Ability to analyze and optimize system performance at scale.
Familiarity with agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
Basic understanding of Windows Server environments for heterogeneous infrastructure management.
Experience in supporting databases (MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL) and application servers.
Contributions to open-source projects or active participation in Linux communities.
