Plastech is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Buyer to join our procurement team. The Buyer will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials, supplies, and services necessary for the company's operations. This role requires strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a keen understanding of market trends to ensure cost-effective procurement while maintaining high-quality standards.

Schedule & Compensation:

Plastech Corporation pays on a weekly basis. This position is 1st Shift, Monday thru Friday.

Starting salary is $60,000 to $65,000 per year.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sourcing and Procurement: Identify and evaluate suppliers, negotiate contracts, and purchase materials, supplies, and services to meet production and operational needs.
  • Vendor Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring timely delivery and quality compliance. Address any issues related to vendor performance.
  • Cost Analysis: Conduct market research and cost analysis to identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements. Monitor market trends and adjust procurement strategies accordingly.
  • Inventory Management: Collaborate with the inventory team to ensure optimal stock levels and avoid shortages or excesses. Implement inventory control measures to minimize waste and maximize efficiency.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and supplier performance. Prepare regular reports on procurement activities and cost savings.
  • Compliance: Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, industry regulations, and ethical standards.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA's):

Knowledge, Education, Experience and/or Certifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, preferably in the manufacturing industry.
  • Familiarity with procurement software and ERP systems is a plus.
Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong negotiating and problem-solving skills required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must be detail-oriented.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work with team members, clients, and suppliers.
  • Communication abilities that include presenting information and responding to questions in a professional manner both internally and externally.
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
