The Pension Training Team operates in a collaborative environment as we are committed to partnering with stakeholders as we work to ensure teams within Pensions are well-informed about pension plan legislation, policies, operational tasks, and internal best practices. We strive to foster a high standard of knowledge, collaboration and excellence as we support our colleagues across Pensions in achieving our North Star - to be the most trusted partner in empowering OMERS members throughout their pension journey, from hire to retirement – and beyond.
Reporting to the Manager of Pension Training, the Senior Associate will focus on the designing, delivering, and facilitation of training content that supports the professional growth of employees across the Pensions team. You will collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure that training initiatives align with business objectives and foster a culture of continuous learning.
What are the responsibilities related to this role?
Design, develop, and deliver training material that aligns with the business need while adhering to fundamental learning principles
Collaborate with subject matter experts to assess training needs and create tailored learning solutions
Build trust and rapport with stakeholders to identify training needs and offer insights on addressing performance gaps
Facilitate training sessions on OMERS Plan provision and/or administrative practices
Maintain up-to-date training materials and resources in alignment with organizational goals and compliance requirements
Support change initiatives (e.g., modernizations and/or system enhancements) by updating existing training material and preparing any new training needs to support these changes
What are the qualifications and skills needed to be successful in this role?
- Post-secondary education or at least 3-5 years of relevant experience in training, pensions, finance, or customer service.
- Experience designing and delivering both in-person and virtual learning solutions.
- Knowledge of pension plan administration, relevant legislation, and regulations (Pension Benefits Act, Income Tax Act) and related policies.
- Expertise in pension technology, systems, and transactional processes across business areas.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Positive attitude committed to personal growth and continuous learning.
- Strong interpersonal skills with coaching and feedback abilities.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with Articulate, Canva, and Camtasia are strong assets.
