Kent Building Supplies is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Loss Prevention Associate to join our team in St. John’s, NL. This role is responsible for implementing and maintaining the store’s loss prevention strategies to minimize shrinkage, protect company assets, and ensure a safe environment for customers and employees.
Responsibilities
Security Monitoring & Surveillance
Operate and maintain the store’s security systems, including CCTV and alarm systems.
Conduct regular perimeter and in-store surveillance to identify suspicious activity.
Monitor customer and employee behavior to prevent theft and ensure safety.
Inventory Control
Ensure cycle counts are completed accurately and on schedule.
Assist with audits and inventory investigations as needed.
Identify and report discrepancies in stock levels or inventory records.
Training & Awareness
Present loss prevention tips and best practices during team meetings and new hire orientations.
Promote a culture of honesty and accountability among store associates.
Incident Response & Investigation
Assist in internal and external investigations under the guidance of the District Loss Prevention Manager.
Document incidents and maintain confidential records in accordance with company policy.
Liaise with law enforcement when necessary.
Qualifications
Strong ability to work independently with a high level of attention to detail and urgency.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with individuals of all ages and backgrounds, including customers, summer students, and law enforcement.
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Previous experience in investigations, security, or loss prevention is considered an asset.
Knowledge of building supplies and retail operations is an asset.
Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including evenings and weekends.
