Summary:
The SIS Office of Research supports the research endeavors of SIS faculty by providing resources and technical assistance for research promotion and research development. We seek to fill the role of Research Program Assistant. The Research Program Assistant is a part-time student position working 15 - 20 hours per week, using a hybrid schedule that combines some hours in the office with remote work. This position requires an active Federal Work Study award.
The Research Program Assistant position in the SIS Office of Research, assisting with clerical and administrative tasks, event planning/management, social media and communication, written promotional products, database management, and other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions:
Event planning and management (booking travel, venues, catering orders, honoraria/financial paperwork, assisting with design of promotional materials, etc.).
Posting to and managing content of social media accounts.
Writing content for the research website.
Database management / data entry, search tools.
Assisting with scheduling and basic administrative functions.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
Part-Time.
15 - 20 hours per week.
Hybrid schedule that combines some hours in the office with remote work.
Must have an active Federal Work Study (FWS) award.
Salary Range:
$17.95 - $18.50 per hour.
Required Education and Experience:
Current student at American University.
Excellent organizational skills.
Strong writing skills, both longer-form pieces and shorter posts for social media.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Ability to work in multicultural environments.
Customer Service focus and ability to professionally communicate with faculty members is essential.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Previous experience working at an AU campus office.
Basic knowledge of SIS faculty research endeavors.
Experience with graphic design (especially Canva), Eventbrite, and SharePoint.
