Summary:
The Employee and Internal Communications Manager develops and implements employee communication strategies across AU that engage and inform employees, with a focus on Human Resources (HR) related communications, including benefits, employee engagement, professional development, performance management, change management, and other HR programs and initiatives. The incumbent will assist University communications with strategy, development, and production of communications initiatives that align with UCM’s overall goals and objectives. This position will partner closely with HR to understand their communications needs, create messaging and campaigns, write communications, highlight staff, and meet compliance deadlines. Additionally, this position will collaborate across UCM to ensure that HR content is updated on other appropriate platforms, including the public website.
Essential Functions:
On a day-to-day basis, create communications for HR and obtain the necessary input and approvals, and communicate hem for the community through appropriate platforms. Lead and manage established and all employee communications activities in HR, including, but not limited to, planning and producing open enrollment materials, benefits promotion, health & wellness promotion, annual performance management guidance, training information, employee engagement communications, staff personnel policy guide, benefits guide, labor relations information, and HR forms, as needed. Coordinate with UCM web and design teams, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure content is strategically highlighted. Manage projects, track, and analyze data to determine if strategies are meeting goals and objectives.
Partner with HR to plan employee communications strategy and projects, maintain schedule, and determine communications needs throughout the year. Develop and maintain a communications plan to include projects, messaging content, and data. Build and foster collaborative relationships with staff in HR and other university departments to be aware and engaged in current and of new initiatives that require communications support.
Collaborate with Internal Communications team to develop creative and integrated content, including employee stories to support providing a consistent, targeted, and impactful message. Build and maintain partnerships with assigned internal partners to develop, coordinate, direct, and facilitate strategic communications designed to meet AU’s goals and objectives.
Support crisis communication management, including message development, relating to operational challenges that require prompt communication to key audiences, particularly relating to human resources and benefits issues.
Monitor communication trends through industry resources and organizations. Monitor use of new technology, tools, and resources and recommend new approaches as warranted.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
Full-time.
35 hours per week.
Hybrid 1 work modality (on campus 3 - 4 days per week).
Salary Range:
$85,136 - $96,000 annually.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
5 - 8 years of relevant experience.
Strong knowledge of benefits and HR disciplines.
Excellent communication and communications skills (writing, editing, proofreading, research from credible sources).
Ability to simplify complex or unfamiliar concepts for a wide variety of audiences.
Strong attention to detail. Demonstrated planning, management, and organization skills.
Ability to listen and understand university objectives to advise appropriate communication strategies.
Ability to manage internal relationships, be collaborative, and create partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
Flexibility and the ability to work well under pressure of deadlines are necessary.
Must be a team player and be comfortable working independently.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Master's degree or equivalent.
8 - 10 years of relevant experience.
