Position Overview
The Operations Specialist is responsible for promoting and delivering quality internal and external customer service. Key responsibilities include processing ACH transactions, wire transfers (domestic and international), maintaining files for levies, garnishments, and forgeries, and performing back-office functions related to dispute resolution, account maintenance, and payment processing.
Essential Job Functions
- Perform card maintenance functions.
- Execute activities related to fraud mitigation.
- Utilize the dispute module for basic dispute functions.
- Respond to member inquiries regarding credit card products, rewards points, and maintenance requests.
- Handle posting and reconciliation duties timely and accurately.
- Monitor departmental support email boxes and assist banking centers via telephone and email support.
- Perform domestic and international wire transfer functions efficiently.
- Process incoming imaged deposit items, ACH originations, and share draft/foreign collection items.
- Handle reclamation and garnishment requests, cash letter adjustments, check orders, and deposit/loan payments.
- Maintain operational and financial controls while complying with department standards.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Two or more years of banking or related experience preferred.
- Basic knowledge of Check 21, NACHA payment rules, OFAC, and general banking rules.
- Proficiency with MS Excel, MS Word, and Outlook.
- Skill in operating office equipment such as calculators, faxes, and copiers.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of classified information.
- Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
- Positive, professional, and courteous interaction with members and co-workers.
- Willing to learn new skills and improve existing procedures.
Education and Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- One year of banking or deposit operations experience preferred.
- General knowledge of banking compliance and regulations.
Compensation
$26.50-30/hr, DOE.
