We are currently seeking a 1031 Exchange Coordinator to join the team in our Braintree office.  This role manages and tracks all aspects of section 1031 exchanges from client in-take to creation of documents and coordination of closings.  Interacts with clients and their representatives as well as internal bank colleagues to efficiently and accurately set-up, manage and close exchange transactions. Brookline Bank is looking for someone who is organized, detail oriented, and has experience in a banking or legal environment.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

•     Prepare accurate exchange documents from templates and from previous versions.

•     Revise exchange documents and be able to accurately track changes.

•     Communicate by phone, email and in writing with clients, their representatives (attorney) and other parties involved in the transaction to collect information, provide information, obtain signature pages and send documents.

•     Timely and accurate organization and maintenance of electronic and paper files.

•     Prepare invoices and track invoice payments and receivables.

•     Accurately enter information in the transaction database, Salesforce experience a plus 

•     Monitor key exchange deadlines.

•     Obtain customer CIP information including tax ID numbers and organizational documents.

•     Develop an understanding of basic requirements of 1031 exchanges.



Job Specifications 

  • 3- 5 years of experience in a fast pace banking, legal or administrative support environment
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail in a fast pace environment is required
  • Excellent written and telephone communication skills.
  • High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook
  • Familiarity with and ability to function within a MS Access database
  • Excellent proofreading and analytical skills
  • Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat X Pro    
  • Proficiency with Windows XP Operating System, including opening and saving of shared documents on a network computer
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally and courteously
  • Ability to simultaneously work on multiple tasks
