REPORTS TO:  Special Education Coordinators and Building Principals

 

SALARY/BENEFITS:  Per AEA Unit D Collective Bargaining Agreement.   Eligible for benefits including health insurance, dental insurance and life insurance and Town of Arlington Retirement System. 

 

 

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

POSITION: TEACHING ASSISTANT

 

JOB GOAL: Dallin's Teaching Assistant will support general and special educators by working with students across school settings to enable them to access the curriculum.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: Associates Degree or Bachelor’s Degree Preferred

  • Experience and eagerness in working with children
  • Ability to coordinate and collaborate with a team that includes Principal, Classroom Teacher, Special Educators, other building staff, related service personnel, clinicians and parents
  • Ability to establish positive connections with students and colleagues
  • Desire to learn and grow skills
  • Strong verbal communication skills

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with classroom management in classrooms
  • Establish emotionally supportive rapport with students
  • Accurately implement content, instructional and performance modifications as designed by the classroom teacher
  • Ensure information is shared among teachers/staff, when necessary
  • Attend organizational meetings, as well as professional development, as determined by administrators
  • Greet students upon arrival to school, assist with student dismissal
  • Collaborate with staff to support school-wide expectations 
  • Play with and actively supervise students at recess and lunch
  • Perform other duties as delineated by teacher or other supervisor

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  183 Days. 7.00 hours per day (this position is 0.8 FTE and would work a part time schedule)
