About the role
We are looking for a forward thinking Oracle DBA who will contribute to the evolution of the current database platforms and who understands both business and overall IT frameworks within a financially regulated environment.
What you’ll do here:
You will help manage all environments related to the Oracle ecosystem here at Intact.
Advocate and promote the transformation of the existing database platforms to a product centric operating model
Participate in the development and Governance of best practices and guidelines for new cloud based database solutions.
Contribute in the development of automation activities to improve daily database operations on Cloud Solutions.
Partner with the software engineering teams to help implement and support continuous integration (CI) and continuous deployment (CD) processes.
Participate in the continuous improvement of processes by providing ideas and best practices for DataOps teams within the Organization.
Apply the best practices and guidelines of the organizational and departmental change management process in relation to databases.
Act as a Database security champion to guide users on best practices around data usage and security.
Part of the overall on call support team.
What you bring to the table:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or any combination of equivalent education and experience.
5+ years of experience a wide range database technologies .
Current knowledge and technical understanding with 19C or 23AI, and Linux operating systems.
Working Knowledge of other database technologies SQL or document databases.
Experience implementing foundational databases cloud services - and their integration with networking, security, account/organizations, logging & monitoring, identity access management, etc.
Experience implementing infrastructure as code using cloud formation and/or Terraform.
Experience in the Insurance or Financial service domain; Understands or willing to learn about our different lines of business and their evolving data needs.
Interest with the latest advancements in AI and the ability to leverage AI database technologies effectively.
An excellent team player - willing to learn and collaborate with a diverse and talented group of IT professionals.
Open and transparent - able to communicate with both business and IT teams(Architecture, Audit, Infrastructure and software engineering) within the organization.
Organized, proactive and a catalyst for change, who is driven by challenges and delivering results.
Good Knowledge on security best practices and understand the impacts they can have on a data workflows,
Thrives working in a constantly evolving technological environment.
No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
