The job in a nutshell

 

With a Royal Warrant and over three hundred years of history, we are Britain's original wine and spirit merchant. With services including a Cellar Plan, award-winning shops, and tutored tastings and events, we provide the closest link between those who make the wine and those who drink it.

 

The Cellar operation at No.3 St James’s, the historical heart of the company, plays a critical role in supporting and enabling the success of the Shop and the Events teams in particular, in addition to other areas of the business, in delivering a first-class experience for our customers.

 

Working flexibly (40 hours per week, worked from Monday to Saturday, 8am-7pm on a rota basis) and at times independently, within a small team this is a varied role covering the receipt/delivery and managing of stock (wines, spirits, accessories etc.) that covers all requirements of cellar logistics work as determined by the business.

 

 

Who you will work with

 

Internal: Events & Experiences, London Wine and Spirits Shop, Maintenance, Logistics & Supply Chain (Despatch and Warehouses), Customer Services, Fine Wine & Wine Advisor teams

 

External: Couriers, Customers

 

 

What you will do

  • Unload delivery vans and ensure the correct stock is received according to paperwork
  • Put stock and other orders away correctly (either in the cellar racking or to the relevant location)
  • Replenish the London Shops
  • Assist maintenance of accurate stock levels through careful stock ordering, processing returns/credits, and taking part in stocktakes
  • Pick and pack orders for customer collection and courier deliveries
  • Record and control customer collections
  • Take collection orders to the shop when requested
  • Assist in stock preparation prior to events and the retrieval and processing of stock returns from events, as directed, using appropriate systems
  • Recycle waste generated by the cellars and London-based teams in line with our sustainability ethos
  • Other activities within the remit of cellar support, as directed by the Cellar Team Leader
  • Maintain a safe, clean, tidy and organised working environment
  • Ensure that all working practices comply with Health and Safety legislation

 

 

What you will bring to the role

Experience / Achievements

  • Previous experience working in a busy warehouse/logistical environment would be preferable
  • Experience of working as part of a team with evidence of taking on responsibility
  • Experience of a physically demanding job, involving manual handling and movement of wines
