London Borough of Harrow has an opening for a Social Worker/Senior Social Worker to join its Children and Young Adults with Disabilities (0-25) Service.
This post holder will be an allocated Social Worker to the Children's Team, working with ages of 0-18 years. The work requires knowledge and practice around Children in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP), Children Looked After (CLA), and Children who are subject to public care proceedings and, where directed by the Court, children subject to private law proceedings, including Children in Need, children in receipt of care packages and those in residential placements under CLA.
Furthermore, you will be responsible for the assessment, planning, monitoring and review functions for all allocated disabled children, young adults and families, as well as implementing suitable care packages for disabled children to promote their welfare.
About you:The successful candidate will have:
A detailed knowledge of the Children Act 1989 and other legislation relating to children plus other statutory regulations, guidance and procedures.
- Working knowledge of all statutory duties and responsibilities relating to children and families, including:
- Legislation
- Regulations and Standards
- Government Objectives and Initiatives
- National and Common Assessment Framework
Experience of user consultation and participation focusing on the needs of service users and carers.
Experience including casework responsibility for direct work with children and families within a statutory fieldwork setting(s). Experience in disabilities is advantageous.
Ability to build empathetic and supportive relationships with children/young people and their families.
Ability to communicate clearly and directly both verbally and in writing, with the use of interpreters and translators when required.
- Ability to make accurate and timely case recording.
A recognised professional Social Work qualification (e.g. Degree in Social Work, Dip SW or CQSW or equivalent).
- Registration with Social Work England.
- Ability to travel for business purposes.
