Position Summary:
The Container Software Engineer will support the development, containerization, and operational validation of mission applications. They will work closely with architects, developers, and operations teams to ensure application readiness, integration, and testability in dynamic environments. Success in this role requires not only technical aptitude but also communication skills, coachability, and a proactive mindset that contributes positively to team performance and mission outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Containerize mission applications in collaboration with software developers
- Maintain and optimize container builds, including dependencies and security updates
- Integrate application containers into Kubernetes or equivalent orchestration platforms
- Support test and demonstration events by deploying and debugging application containers
- Participate in documentation, integration, and team retrospectives to improve delivery
Required Qualifications:
- 3–5+ years in software development, DevOps, or related engineering roles
- Hands-on experience building Docker/OCI containers for Python, Go, Java, or C/C++ apps
- Familiarity with various Kubernetes distributions, Helm or other package managers, and container lifecycle best practices
- Experience working with RESTful APIs or gRPC for inter-service communication within microservices or containerized systems.
- Experience troubleshooting containerized environments across staging and test deployments
- General understanding of container networking basics such as ingress controllers, pod communication, and DNS resolution within Kubernetes.
- Eagerness to deepen knowledge in areas like container security, service mesh, or network troubleshooting through mentorship and hands-on learning.
