A Snapshot
As a Strategy Associate based in our HQ in Sydney, you will report to the Strategy Associate Director and work closely with various teams and senior leadership across the Asia Pacific & Japan region, making your mark in a number of ways:
- Engage in high impact strategic projects across all areas of the business, including defining AirTrunk’s growth and scaling strategy, new market entry, and M&A integration covering any and all areas of the business – from across the data centre project delivery lifecycle spanning site selection to design to energy to supply chain to construction to operations, or corporate areas like in sustainability, community impact, marketing & communications, risk, ICT, treasury or finance
- Build your own unique, valuable, cross-functional view by rapidly understanding new concepts and complex information across the whole business, and synthesising for key stakeholders, including senior leadership, the board and our investors
- Be comfortable with uncertainty and work flexibly across exciting diverse opportunities
Your Day to Day
- Undertake detailed strategic and financial analysis of various activities across the business including new customer, market, product or technology opportunities
- Build rapport, collaborate and assist other teams to synthesise complex, large volumes and often unstructured information into visually compelling, simple-to-understand insights
- Work closely with commercial, corporate development and capital planning teams under the Corporate Development & Strategy Vice President and Capital & Strategy Managing Director in considering customer opportunities, capital allocation and funding avenues for both organic and inorganic growth within the business
- Assist in undertaking business planning activities, budgeting, assessing international expansion markets, target customers and medium-term outlook
- Build and maintain robust internal financial models, including operations, valuations, and treasury / debt models
- Assist in the negotiation of transaction terms and legal documentation, including for financing and corporate development activities
- Industry research and benchmarking analysis across domestic and international peers, and broader market landscape
Requirements
- 3+ years’ experience in strategy management consulting, investment banking (M&A advisory), Big 4 Accounting (M&A or transaction services), or in-house corporate development / strategy. Experience with post-merger integration is a bonus
- Meticulous attention to detail, and a reliable pair of hands to deliver projects
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in performing accurate financial modelling, valuation and broader quantitative analysis
- Curious about new emerging technology trends
- Skilled with technology and a solutions-oriented, strategic problem solver
- You have excellent commercial judgement, and know what is best for the business
- A great teammate who is proactive and results-focused, anticipates needs, is professional, assertive, and highly accountable
- High emotional intelligence and outstanding interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration across all levels of the organisation
- Understanding of the data centre infrastructure, or technology sectors is a plus, but not essential
