Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia’s future.  

 

Downer Professional Services comprises of three business units our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice, and Team Downer, which partners with CASG and NSSG as a major service provider to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for clients across Defence and National Security. 

 

We currently have an opportunity for a Defence Commercial & Procurement Training Specialist in Melbourne or remote to work on CASG projects.   

 

What You’ll Do  
 

This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including: 
 

  • ERP Process Validation & Integration: Review and validate SAP S/4 HANA procurement/commercial processes, and integrate MILIS Procurement modules into Defence ERP. 

  • Stakeholder Liaison & Collaboration: Work closely with SMEs, Systems Integrators, and Defence ERP Program teams to ensure process flows and solutions are fit for purpose. 

  • Business Process Improvement: Identify, analyse, and enhance procurement and commercial practices to align with CASG’s evolving business environment. 

  • Documentation & Training Support: Provide input into documented information, training materials, and project deliverables to ensure accuracy and usability for end users. 

  • Technical Expertise & Team Contribution: Deliver technical direction for business solutions, support supply chain integration scenarios, and collaborate with CASG project teams to build a high-performing capability. 

 
What You’ll Bring 
 

  • Independent & Autonomous Work: Proven ability to operate with minimal direction while engaging diverse stakeholders effectively. 

  • Influence in Blended Workforces: Skilled at collaborating across mixed civilian, military, and contractor teams to drive outcomes. 

  • Analytical Decision-Making: Capable of drawing sound conclusions from limited or incomplete information in complex environments. 

  • Effective Communication: Strong formal and informal communication skills to engage a wide range of stakeholders. 

  • Defence Sector Expertise: Mandatory experience in Defence procurement, supply chain, logistics, or relevant Defence project delivery. 

 

Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
