SUMMARY:
The Job Developer/Placement Assistant works with students, parents, guardians, staff, and outside agencies to provide independent living, education, training, and employment opportunities for students served by the ESS program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Organizes and presents program information to occupational/vocational classes districtwide. Participates in the planning and implementation of various tours, job events, resources and other activities.
- Prepares and conducts skills-based pre-employment workshops for students served by the ESS program.
- Contacts and works with local employers to identify and develop part-time and full-time employment opportunities for students served by the ESS program.
- Coordinates job development and placement for students served by the ESS program, as well as helps parents / guardians identify adult day programs as appropriate for some students with significant cognitive disabilities.
- Coordinates and networks with various agencies to provide transition-related services and resources for students related to employment, education, training and independent living.
- Conducts required ADE survey with program graduates for post school outcome data; documents data required by the State Department of Education.
- Establishes and maintains contact with students, teachers, counselors, facilitators, parents, guardians, and other stakeholders for the purpose of monitoring student job progress and employer needs, serving as a resource.
- Creates and maintains accurate databases and systems of student records. Prepares, updates, and maintains electronic and hard-copy data required for local, State, and Federal reporting.
- Participates as a member of the Individualized Education Program Team to conduct required age-appropriate transition assessments to meet IDEA requirements for transition planning of post-secondary and employment goals and options for students.
- Supports the relationship between the Phoenix Union High School District and the public by demonstrating courteous and professional behavior when interacting with students, parents, visitors, and school staff; maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, client records, and school information; follows Governing Board Policies; performs all other related duties as required or assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training, and Experience Guidelines:
High School diploma or GED equivalent; AND two years of related experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
License and Certification Requirements:
A valid Arizona State Driver’s License and reliable transportation is required.
Possess an active Arizona Department of Public Safety IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card or obtain one within the first 90 workdays of employment.

- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to provide excellent customer experiences, including but not limited to interacting tactfully and courteously with the public.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in a standard office environment. May be exposed to a variety of conditions when accompanying students to interview and job sites.
