Reports to: P&C Compliance, Risk & Policy Lead
Location: Reading
Purpose of the role:
The Global P&C Policy Specialist is responsible for the development, amendment, and overall management of P&C policies across multiple regions. This role establishes that policies meet legal requirements in each region, respect cultural sensitivities and are aligned with the P&C Purpose.
The position requires an understanding of international Colleague Relations and Industrial Relations laws and regional employment practices. The role requires an ability to commit to global consistency and to adapt to local requirements where appropriate.
Key responsibilities:
- In conjunction with the relevant COE, develop and implement global P&C policies as required that support the P&C purpose and take account of market expansion and local nuances.
- Develop a Policy Governance Framework across P&C and work with internal stakeholders to operationalise.
- Responsible for the inclusion of Primark Values and Behaviours and reflecting the Diversity and Inclusion strategic agenda across all policies.
- In partnership with COE Policy Owners, apply the Primark tone of voice, version control and own expertise to all policies.
- In partnership with the P&C Country Leaders adapt policies to meet local employment laws and cultural nuances while preserving alignment with global standards.
- Carry out an assessment and global benchmarking of all P&C policies to deliver competitiveness and ensure compliance with global standards.
- Make certain that P&C policies adhere to any legal requirements including, EHS, employment, social, privacy (e.g., GDPR) etc.
- Keep up to date with global legal and social trends and changes in Employee Relations (ER)/ Industrial Relations legislation, recommending necessary policy updates.
- Develop cross functional relationships with legal and compliance teams to minimise and/or mitigate business risk at a local and global level.
- Collaborate with country P&C Leaders to ensure that local needs are met regarding development and implementation of policies.
- Take a leading role in the communication of global P&C policies to all central and country P&C teams.
- Work in partnership with in-country teams to ensure effective and consistent implementation.
- In conjunction with the Learning and Development Team, provide translated training resources that deliver an understanding and implementation of policies.
- Provide subject matter expertise advising P&C teams locally and globally on policy related issues.
- Work to resolve/align on cross-border policy issues to help provide a balance with local needs
- Monitor the effectiveness of global HR policies through feedback from regional teams and data analysis.
- Report on policy acceptance and compliance and identify potential gaps and/or improvements.
- Maintain a comprehensive record all policy updates, versions, and approvals.

Skills and experience:
- 5-7 years working in HR with at least 3 years working as a HR Policy Manager.
- Experience in developing, adapting, and implementing HR policies. Preferably in a global setting.
- Track record of ensuring that policies align and comply with local market legislation.
- Experience working with HR and cross functional teams locally and globally.
- Proven record in mitigating risk and managing ER compliance.
- Experience in rolling out HR policies.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to foster relationships across multiple territories.
