The Analytics Engineer will work in our cross-disciplinary engineering team to scale our data platform and help define and build the future of analytics at Coconut Software. Using various data sources, you'll design and implement data models that support mission-critical reporting and analysis, delivering insights that directly influence business strategy and product development. You’ll empower users with business intelligence documentation and expanded self-serve analytic capabilities. You will present data insights and deliver presentations with the goal of educating and championing a data informed culture.


Partnering with data engineers, analysts, developers, and department leads, you’ll deliver impactful reporting and analytics using Looker and other data focused tools. As the organization grows, you will help establish and promote data standards, ethics, and best practices for data, democratizing data at Coconut.

  • Be a key and reliable member of our small but mighty and aspirational data team
  • Work at the intersection of business and technology, unlocking the potential of data to provide insights, forecasting, prove ROI, and serve internal and external use cases
  • Collaborate with the data engineering team to develop data collection, storage, and transformation strategies for downstream reporting and analytics
  • Support our data analysts in designing, building and managing self-serve dashboards and views for users using business intelligence tools like Looker
  • Educate and support internal users and stakeholders to improve data literacy and data accessibility within the organization
  • Participate in discussions on predictive model prototypes and ML algorithms
  • Own documentation and definitions for data sources and metrics, ensuring users can reliably trust our data (including data catalogs, common business language, data nuance, and version tracking)
  • Identify and troubleshoot data inconsistencies and implement measures to track and monitor the integrity of data and accuracy of reports


WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM:


  • 3+ years of applied experience in a data specialist role.
  • Solid understanding and relevant experience in:
  • Different modeling and materialization techniques for dbt (or similar tool).
  • Working with data warehouse platforms, relational data models, and ELT processes (e.g. dbt, Redshift, Postgres, Databricks, Snowflake, Airflow).
  • Interpreting, reporting, and visualizing the results of data analysis or data exploration in modern business intelligence tools (e.g. Looker, Tableau, or PowerBI).
  • Writing, improving, and troubleshooting complex SQL queries using industry-standard languages. (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL, RedShift SQL, MariaDB).
  • Data profiling and testing using observability tools.
  • The ability to successfully collaborate cross-functionally, gathering requirements and delivering results to different teams and departments.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high autonomy work environment with the ability to work independently, prioritize responsibilities, and manage time effectively.
