Position Summary
Substitute Teachers for the Lower School (Grades Pre-K to 4) have had experience in the classroom, understanding how to manage a classroom and to teach from lesson plans in order to provide continuity of instruction for the students. Substitute Teachers play an important role as the expectation is active and engaged teaching in a setting where students will continue to learn in the absence of their teacher.
Compensation: $195 / day (7:30-3:00 pm) or $26.00 / hour if coverage is less than a full day.
Essential Responsibilities
FOR SHORT-TERM SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS:
Teach classes following the lesson plan
Assist and supervise classrooms if the primary teacher is remote
Perform duties such as supervising drop-off and dismissal, recess, and lunch
Maintain all documentation connected with the curriculum and students
Maintain regular and reliable attendance
Exemplify the School’s mission and community principles, including the core values of honesty, respect, and compassion
Perform duties as assigned by the division head
Maintain current CPR/AED and First Aid certification
Other duties as assigned
Bachelor degree
Experience in instructing children in academic, athletic, or camp programs
Strong supervisory and leadership skills to manage a classroom
Ability to perform critical thinking, organization, prioritization, and problem-solving with minimal supervision
Ability to serve in a diverse community of colleagues, students, and parents
Enthusiasm and communication skills to engage boys and build meaningful relationships
