The Culinary Assistant / Server will provide meal service to residents/tenants under sanitary conditions and in a respectful, timely manner by communicating, coordinating, and cooperating with others to carry out the operations of the Nutrition and Culinary Services department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:                                                                                                                              

  • Offers and serves menu choices to residents in a cheerful and respectful manner.
  • Follows portion control size standards.
  • Thoroughly cleans and sanitizes all dishes, tables, equipment, utensils, and containers used to provide meals as well as other assigned cleaning duties.
  • Operates equipment in a proper, safe, sanitary, and respectful manner.
  • Prepares various menu items as assigned by the Nutrition and Culinary Director (Coordinator) and/or Culinary Cook.
  • Monitors daily menu items in order to verify that all necessary items are prepared and labeled.
  • Stores leftovers appropriately according to food handling standards.
  • Organizes and plans work schedule to meet times for serving.
  • Operates dish machine according to directions. Pre-soaks and sorts dishes and utensils.
  • Assists in accepting vendor deliveries and storing items in the proper areas.
  • Senior Living Nutrition and Culinary Assistants must also operate the point of sale system (if applicable).
