Position Summary:  At Thorne, our freight shipping lead is a very important part of our operations. Our freight and material handler roles offer hands-on experience in a clean, safe, and innovative warehouse environment with opportunities to grow and develop. With accuracy we ensure our customers receive finished goods meeting our strict quality standards, every team member plays a critical role in delivering trusted solutions to our customers.

Lead Area Duties

• Demonstrates the ability to provide ongoing written and oral direction and clarity to Shipping Technicians and

Shipping Material Handlers.

• Ensures all Distribution Department employees are trained in SOP’s and that they are properly followed.

• Keeps Distribution Freight Supervisor updated daily on personnel, shipping goals, quality, and equipment.

• Assists in the timely completion of performance appraisals for department personnel.

• Leads and supervises in the quick set up of all phases of assigned area for smooth operation and maximum output.

• Notifies the Distribution Freight Supervisor of any problems that affect output.

• Has sufficient knowledge of the area and equipment being operated to make adjustments, without supervision, within

guidelines outlined in the applicable SOP and current training level.

• Maintains a standard output for each shipment being processed and continuously improves speed and performance.

• Immediately notifies Distribution Freight Supervisor of any machine problems or anomalies outside of normal

operations that effect output and the well-being of the equipment.

• Takes initiative to ensure shipping areas and the warehouse meet Thorne Research’s standard of sanitation and

cleanliness.

• Operates forklifts and pallet jacks as required by area assigned by supervisor.

• Maintains order integrity while efficiently packing distributor orders in a neat manner.

• Accurately and efficiently pulls product for distributor orders. Demonstrates attention to detail (for example, making

sure you are pulling the right product and Thorne ID number).

• Accurately and efficiently build, label, and shrink wrap pallets for distribution.

• Consistent in their work, follows through with their work and sees projects or daily responsibilities through to a

satisfactory end without supervision.

• Follows customer-specific documentation for order preparation and shipping requirements.

• Considers the overall workload of distributor orders and coordinates with Distribution Freight Supervisor to determine

which orders have priority.

What You Need:

• Minimum High school diploma or GED
• Math Ability: Employee has the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in the units of measurement used in the Production Department, using whole numbers and decimals (for example, converting grams to kilograms).
• Prior manufacturing experience
