The Civil & Environmental Engineering Department is a joint department in the School of Engineering and the Doerr School of Sustainability. The Civil & Environmental Engineering (CEE) department’s vibrant population of 500 students needs an effective undergraduate degree progress and course scheduling point person. CEE is seeking an Assistant Director of Undergraduate Degree Progress and Curriculum Management for its student affairs staff team to lead its efforts in tracking undergraduate degree progress, effective curriculum management, and lively undergraduate student engagement. This role requires a self-starter who is detail-oriented, comfortable learning and using an array of web-based tools and platforms, and eager to be part of a collaborative team.

In this role, you will:

• Oversee, review and administer student records by analyzing data, advising students and providing recommendations that require interpretation and influence decisions. 
• Provide advice to students on a range of issues, including, but not limited to, academic progress, academic program policies, career plans, accessibility, community standards, etc., to guide them in making appropriate choices and decisions.
• Serve as point person for all undergraduate degree milestones e.g. approving program sheets, including two undergraduate Engineering majors affiliated with CEE curriculum.
• Collect course offering details from instructors and their supporting staff and handle correspondence with the Registrar’s Office to ensure courses are scheduled correctly and in a timely manner. Includes responsibility of scheduling final exams and associating all course and teaching assistants with correct courses. 
• Develop recommendations and collaborate with staff, faculty and other offices to resolve programmatic issues within the school and across functional units, (such as strategizing to ensure optimal enrollment). 
• Collect and analyze data from multiple sources on a quarterly basis, including student feedback, surveys, trend reports, and data analytics. Prepare and summarize reports and make recommendations to enhance offerings, such as programs and courses and to influence current processes and policies.
• Recruit instructors and coordinate Summer Session courses offered during summer quarters.
• Hire, train, and regularly check in with undergraduate peer advisors and other undergraduate student leaders.
• Advise faculty and department administration on student engagement needs and priorities.
• Advertise and coordinate VPUE REU summer program for CEE undergraduate students; includes coordinating events and poster sessions for research symposiums.
• Provide first-line response to identify students in crisis and refer to appropriate resources, as needed.
• Develop, analyze, influence and review policies, processes and programs by incorporating feedback and trend data learned from first-line interactions with students. Advise manager and team on policy updates and provide recommendations for implementation of changes.
• Update website content for students, faculty, and staff regarding department policies and processes; develop and maintain digital tools as needed to support student degree progress
• Assist in planning and developing webinars, education fairs and other external functions.
• Meet with undergraduate students daily for enrollment and special status troubleshooting, including leaves of absence. Clearing students to graduate. Chasing down missing grades from instructors.
• Coordinate CEE offerings through IntroSems, Writing in the Major, and other programs managed by the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education.
• Co-editor of CEE Weekly, our internal newsletter.
• Point person for liaisoning with other depts for special student statuses, such as for NCAA compliance and Bechtel student visa compliance.
• May provide oversight with the administration of financial processes such as financial reimbursements, data entry, reviewing terms and conditions regarding contracts, understanding vendor requirements, and following up and resolving issues.
• Other duties as assigned.
