BAE Systems is seeking a Technical Writer/Editor to support our work as a prime contractor on a high-profile U.S. Navy weapon system. A strong attentional to detail, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work well independently and with others are important traits we expect the successful candidate to possess and demonstrate.

This position is responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to producing and editing technical documents and technical procedure manuals such as: Strategic Systems Program Instructions (SSPINSTs), Ordnance Documents (ODs), and related documentation to include but not limited to, governing documents, correspondence, document technical specifications and work instruction. A limited amount of travel to off-site locations could be required.

Our organization has supported the U.S. Navy’s Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) continually since the program’s inception in the 1950s. SSP developed the first sea-based, underwater-launched Strategic Weapon System (SWS), a defense system that is truly critical to our national security. The sea-based SWS is the ultimate stealthy weapon system and is the first leg of the U.S. nuclear triad. Required Skills and Education

Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or Computer Science degree and 2 years professional work experience or equivalent relevant experience.
Experience writing and editing formal publications and technical documents for organization, grammar, usage, and clarity
Translate technical concepts into clear, concise language tailored to technical and non-technical stakeholders, including customer leadership.
Advanced proficiency using Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
Advanced editing skills: grammar and punctuation, writing standards and best practices, plain language, style guides, version control
Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as outstanding strong proofreading and formatting skills
Create and maintain documentation libraries and repositories (e.g., SharePoint, Confluence, ServiceNow Knowledge Base) to ensure version control and accessibility.
Exceptional attention to detail and an eye for formatting inconsistencies
A proven ability to learn and quickly grasp complex technical concepts to convey them clearly and accurately
