Position Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Public Safety Support Specialist and the general oversight of the Chief of Police / Director of Public Safety (Chief of Police), serve as a telecommunicator and records technician for the ENMU Department of Public Safety. This position encompasses several roles and responsibilities that would normally be divided between divisions (i.e., records division and dispatch) in a traditional public safety organization (.i.e., police department).
This telecommunicator and records technician will collect, organize, maintain, store, and distribute (where authorized and applicable) physical and digital records for the department while ensuring information is accurate, secure, and accessible to authorized users. The position will require certified use of the department’s telecommunications systems over Federal Communications Commission (FCC) licensed channels during regular business hours, as scheduled, and during assigned special events. The position also plays a critical role in administrative responsibilities related to emergency notifications and communication during critical incidents and will have access to both surveillance and access control technologies.
Work involves considerable contact with the public both in adversarial and non-adversarial situations. This position requires a minimum of forty hours per week and consistency in operations. Work will include overtime related to weekends, holidays, special events, and/or call outs.
