JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Position Title:       Project Manager & Business Development – ESP India

Reports To:            Head Seals

Role Type:             Individual Contribution

Location:               Mysore

 

Purpose of Role

 

Lead and manage projects related to the development of suppliers, new products, new processes, and product approvals for externally sourced products, ensuring alignment with SKF’s quality, cost, and delivery standards.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

Supplier Development

  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers aligned with strategic sourcing goals.
  • Conduct supplier capability assessments and audits to ensure compliance with SKF standards.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to improve quality, cost, and delivery performance.
  • Establish long-term partnerships with strategic suppliers.

 

New Product Development

  • Manage end-to-end development of externally sourced products from concept to launch.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams (engineering, sourcing, quality, logistics) to ensure timely execution.
  • Define product specifications and ensure alignment with customer and market needs.
  • Monitor project milestones, budgets, and risks.

 

 

Process Development

  • Support suppliers in developing or improving manufacturing processes for new products.
  • Ensure process capability, repeatability, and scalability for production.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in supplier operations.

 

 

 

Product Approvals & Compliance

  • Lead product validation, testing, and approval processes in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with SKF standards, industry regulations, and customer requirements.
  • Maintain documentation for product approvals, certifications, and audits.

Warehouse & Packaging Development

  • Develop and implement optimized packaging solutions for externally sourced products, ensuring protection, cost-efficiency, and sustainability.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and logistics teams to design warehouse layouts and material handling processes that support lean operations.
  • Ensure packaging and warehousing practices comply with SKF’s branding, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Support digitalization and traceability initiatives in warehouse and packaging operations.

 

Project Management

  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, timelines, and status reports.
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and suppliers to ensure alignment.
  • Escalate issues proactively and drive resolution to keep projects on track

 

Metrics

  • Supplier onboarding and qualification rate
  • New product launch success rate
  • Project delivery on time and within budget
  • Product approval cycle time
  • Packaging cost optimization
  • Warehouse efficiency and space utilization
  • Supplier performance improvement (QCD metrics)

 

Competencies

  • Strong project management skills (PMP or equivalent preferred)
  • Technical knowledge of industrial products, packaging, and warehousing
  • Supplier development and sourcing experience
  • Cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management
  • Problem-solving and analytical thinking
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills

 

Candidate Profile:

  • 5–10 years in supplier development, product engineering, packaging, or project management in an industrial setting
  • Travel: Willingness to travel to supplier locations and manufacturing sites (~30–40%)
