Follett Content Solutions, the leading distributor of K–12 library and classroom print and digital materials, serving nearly 90,000 schools is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Pricing Analyst to lead pricing strategy across our extensive catalog of nearly 4 million titles. This role is critical to ensuring the learning materials we sell remain competitively priced while maintaining healthy gross margins. Using data science, you will be responsible for developing an overall pricing strategy and framework using data-driven insights, competitive intelligence and margin analysis to optimize pricing for fiction and non-fiction trade books and curriculum bundles distributed to K–12 schools nationwide.

This position is an exempt, full-time position located in McHenry, IL. The pay range for this position is between $78,000.00 - $90,000.00 annually. We offer a hybrid work schedule with 3 days in the office (Monday, Tuesday & Thursday) and 2 remote days (Wednesday & Friday). Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute scalable and dynamic pricing strategies for a catalog nearly 4 million titles.
  • Conduct competitive pricing analysis across key markets and product categories, regularly informing leadership about changes in the markets.
  • Perform margin analysis to ensure pricing decisions align with profitability targets and cost structures.
  • Build and maintain pricing models and KPI tools to support dynamic pricing decisions and large-scale SKU management.
  • Collaborate with product, sales, data management and finance teams to align pricing with school buying cycles, district budgets and procurement guidelines.
  • Support RFP and bid submissions with strategic pricing recommendations and analyze win/loss performance to guide future responses.
  • Monitor pricing performance and recommend adjustments based on market trends, customer feedback and cost fluctuations.
  • Ensure compliance with state contracts, cooperative purchasing agreements, and educational regulations.
  • Build management KPI dashboards that can be accessed with real-time pricing and margin metrics across our SKU portfolio 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Data Science, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 3–5 years of experience in pricing, financial analysis, or revenue management, ideally in education, publishing, or distribution.
  • Proven experience managing large datasets and pricing at scale (millions of SKUs).
  • Strong proficiency in Excel, SQL, business intelligence, data science (Python/R) and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP) and pricing software automation tools (e.g., Vendavo, Pricefx).

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with clustering, segmentation, or machine learning techniques for pricing optimization.
  • Understanding of K–12 procurement processes and education funding models.

 

Other:

  • Role offers hybrid/remote flexibility, with three (3) days per week being on-site in McHenry, IL.
  • Success will be measured by:
  1. Increase in ASP
  2. Margin improvement (e.g., % contribution margin increase)
  3. Pricing accuracy, decrease in pricing errors and accuracy vs. benchmarks
  4. Bid/RFP win rate
