ACCOUNTABILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Coaches and mentors all team members on Scrum and SAFe principles and best practices, promoting continual education.
Promotes an environment of transparency and respect, providing a foundation for building a self-organizing, high-performing team where individuals can realize their full potential.
Facilitates cross-functional interactions between their Scrum team, other Scrum teams and other teams/resources, ensuring that cross-team dependencies are managed appropriately.
Works with Product Owners to help them maintain a quality Product Backlog, ensuring the Scrum Team always has well-defined backlog items ready to work on.
Works to increase team efficiency by encouraging out-of-the-box thinking and relentless improvement, while staying focused on quality and timeliness.
Ensures their team is fully aware of all relevant information needed for them to be productive.
Tracks and removes impediments negatively impacting the team and shields the team from outside distractions and interferences.
Generates performance metrics for the team (burndowns, burnups, velocity, capacity, etc.) and ensures the information is available to the rest of the organization.
Schedules and facilitates Scrum meetings as needed (Sprint Planning, Daily Stand Up, Sprint Retrospective, etc.).
Other duties as required.
SKILLS & CERTIFICATIONS
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact with groups at all levels of management.
Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum, SAFe, Kanban, Lean).
Able to lead from a position of influence, acting as a servant leader for their Scrum team.
Able to negotiate with others when under pressure, arriving at a mutually beneficial outcome with ease and composure.
Able to resolve conflicts while remaining calm in the face of opposition or tense situations.
Able to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously while maintaining focus on the highest priority task.
Able to analyze problematic scenarios and propose feasible solutions.
Experience with Microsoft Team Foundation Server.
Available to work early, late and weekends when needed to fulfill assigned responsibilities.
Maintains the highest standards of ethical conduct, honesty and integrity.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration/Management, or related field.
Senior Scrum Masters may also lead and coordinate large cross-departmental projects using traditional Project Management methods. Coaches and mentors other Scrum Masters. Partners with Software Development Managers and others in supporting the team’s continual education. Assists with SAFe events as requested or needed. Uses traditional Project Management methods to lead large, cross-functional projects. Monitors the progress of Epics through multiple Scrum Teams and iterations. Able to assess current practices, identify opportunities for improvement and build consensus to implement change.
Must have a demonstrated ability and experience in leading, influencing, and/or managing a team with
6 years experience in any of the following:
Scrum Master (certification required)
Product Owner or Product Manager
Software Development Project Manager
Project leader in a software development venue
Experience with Lean and DevOps practices
