Summary The Production Planner/Scheduler is a vital role in manufacturing and operations, responsible for creating and managing the flow of work to meet customer demand efficiently and cost-effectively. They act as the central coordinator between sales, engineering, procurement, and the production floor.
The Production Planner/Scheduler is the primary individual responsible for translating customer demand into a workable manufacturing schedule. Their goal is to ensure that the company produces the right products, in the right quantity, at the right time, while utilizing resources (equipment, materials, and labor) optimally.
This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and cross-functional communication to manage inventory, prevent bottlenecks, and adjust to sudden changes in orders or material availability. They balance the need to minimize inventory costs against the need to guarantee on-time customer delivery.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Education and/or Experience
Language Skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to coordinate with multiple departments (e.g., Sales, Operations, Procurement, Warehouse) and external suppliers/customers.
Mathematical Skills
Will use mathematics to solve problems, up to the algebraic level.
