Job Description
Bring your experience and passion for engineering to Lockheed Martin, and build the systems which support our nation's defense systems.
At Lockheed Martin Space, we are building the future of space operations by delivering secure, resilient, and automated software solutions. As a DevSecOps Engineer, you will be a key contributor to mission systems that strengthen space domain awareness and satellite resiliency. You’ll apply modern DevSecOps practices to ensure our platforms are secure, scalable, and optimized for rapid delivery.
What does this role look like?
• Generate and simulate operational-level plans to explore innovative ways of defending assets in contested space.
• Optimize terrestrial and space-based sensors to provide comprehensive situational awareness.
• Strategically model and maneuver constellations of satellites to meet evolving mission priorities.
• Contribute to both front-end and back-end development using Java and JavaScript.
• Develop automated testing frameworks to ensure quality across unit, service-level, and end-to-end tests.
• Leverage GitLab, Kubernetes, Helm, and CI/CD pipelines in an automation-first environment where “everything is code.”
You’ll work closely with a collaborative team of engineers, applying modern DevSecOps practices to deliver secure, reliable, and cutting-edge mission software.
Important Notes
• Candidates may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
• Applying to this Expression of Interest opportunity introduces you to Lockheed Martin's job opportunities and promotes you to managers who are interested in hiring for multiple roles.
• You can’t and will not be hired on this requisition. Actual job responsibilities, levels, and locations will vary based on actual hiring job postings.
Basic Qualifications
• U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance (SCI eligibility required).
• Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration (Kubernetes, Helm, Docker, Containerd) in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, OpenStack, or OpenShift).
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or Packer.
• Experience working in Agile development environments with tools like JIRA and Confluence.
• Proficiency with CI/CD tools and pipelines (GitLab, ArgoCD, automated build and deployment).
• Development experience with Java or Python.
Desired skills
• Recent experience as a technical lead, contributing to architecture, research, and code quality standards.
• Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) background, including automation, monitoring, incident response, and system optimization.
• Experience with Linux development and shell scripting (e.g., bash).
• Familiarity with space domain operations and mission system concepts.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams.
• Demonstrated critical thinking, problem-solving, and time management skills in fast-paced environments.
