Provides maintenance and ongoing support of Office of Procurement Services science kit production and Instructional Services (IS) K-6 science team using a computerized inventory database; checks, verifies, and tracks amounts ordered and delivered; maintains and monitors database.

Qualifications

Required

  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or possession of a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) certificate.
  • One (1) year of experience in inventory management and related office software applications.
    • Advanced degree(s) beyond the minimum degree requirement in a relevant field may be considered for some experience.
  • Knowledge of financial and document control requirements of a warehouse.
  • Familiarity with inventory database applications.
  • Skill in inventory management.
  • Skill in using Microsoft office applications, specifically inventory applications.
  • Ability to work within restrictive time frames.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations using logic and reasoning for inventory control.

Major Duties/Essential Functions

  1. Maintains and is accountable for an inventory database system of elementary school science kit materials.
  2. Oversees inventory supply and receives and processes requisitions from IS K-6 science team.
  3. Verifies and tracks orders placed by elementary school science teachers/curriculum specialists.
  4. Processes receipt of inventory; converts units of measure, as needed; tracks and verifies orders and maintains inventory.
  5. Prints labels for processing and shipping science kit materials, ensuring accurate quantity, description, and delivery of items.
  6. Maintains commodities and bin location changes.
  7. Maintains database software updates and resolves any issues.
  8. Provides training and ongoing support, as needed.
  9. Ensures accuracy in issuing inventory items; develops and maintains pick tickets.
  10. Assists the procurement buyer in purchasing materials for future science kits and with forecasting data.
  11. Collaborates with school science teachers/curriculum specialist with ongoing requirements, including changes to kit materials.
  12. Performs related duties as required or assigned.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements

This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to regularly stand; sit; walk; use hands to handle, finger, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk, and hear. The workload may require the employee to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, do simple math calculations, and withstand moderate amounts of stress. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
