POSITION OVERVIEW
The Festival Manager, Access Control & Scanning ensures successful access control and ticket scanning operations at Sundance Film Festival theaters and venues. The manager will work closely with volunteers and staff to monitor operations and promptly troubleshoot issues that arise.
Working closely under the direction of Festival Manager, Ticketing Systems, the Manager, Access Control & Scanning will also train team members to effectively troubleshoot equipment and work to document procedures. This role supports Sundance Institute�s commitment to providing a positive patron experience.
This temporary position works full time (40 hours per week) from Monday, November 3, 2025 through Tuesday, February 3, 2026 and must be based within a commutable distance to our Park City, UT office. While much of the day-to-day work may be performed remotely leading up to the Festival, this position will need to work onsite at key points throughout the duration of employment. Extended hours, including evenings and weekends will be required at key points to meet deadlines and respond to on-call needs as assigned.
Top priorities include but are not limited to�
Overseeing access control and ticketing scanning operations to ensure they run smoothly and efficiently across Festival theaters and venues.
Monitoring issues related to access control and scanning operations to ensure proper troubleshooting and prompt resolution.
Training team members on protocols related to operating and troubleshooting equipment, including fielding questions onsite and managing escalated issues related to ticket, pass, or credential scanning.
Ensuring procedures related to access control and ticket scanning operations are clearly documented and available for future reference.
Building and administering volunteer and employee access control training materials to ensure a comprehensive understanding of ticket scanning operations.
Working closely with the Volunteer Department to acquire adequate volunteer coverage for theater access control needs and provide ongoing and accurate information to department volunteers with timely responses to their inquiries.
Work closely with the Theater Operations department to ensure that a proper workflow for patrons to enter theaters is established and employees and volunteers are trained.
Managing seasonal employees and volunteers, including selecting and training highly effective employees, providing direction, feedback, and support to ensure they understand responsibilities and are effective and supported in their roles.
Working with Coordinators to ensure theater and venues receive daily check-ins and support as needed.
Overseeing and monitoring the deployment of scanning equipment by Coordinators, including documenting issues that arise or damage.
Managing the implementation of backup scanning procedures as needed.
Working with Tech Services colleagues to resolve escalated software or hardware issues.
Monitoring and reporting to Tech Services about issues with box office wireless connectivity and assisting with reconnecting to networks as needed.
Liaising with the Ticketing and Operations teams as needed to communicate and resolve issues.
You have the following direct or transferable skill sets:
Legal authorization to work in the United States.
3 years experience in venue, event operations, or related.
Strong leadership skills with a background that includes managing people.
Excellent conflict resolution skills and the ability to manage stressful situations.
Outstanding communication skills required to work effectively with a variety of people.
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to effectively prioritize.
Basic tech skills and a strong knowledge of mobile device OS and functionally.
