Ceramic Development Engineer

This position is to support Knowles Ceramic Development new product introductions. The focus of this position is to develop advanced ceramic formulations for MLCC products. 

Key Responsibilities

  • • Develop ceramic formulations (in collaboration with Sr. Ceramic Scientists), and their processing from batching through electrical testing.
  • Ceramic batching, milling, calcining, sintering, and electrical testing. 
  • Characterization of newly developed ceramic powders (XRD, XRF, SEM, Dilatometer).
  • Scale newly developed ceramics for testing in advanced multilayer capacitors.
  • Support MLCC fabrication utilizing tape casting processes

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Materials science, chemistry, or related academic study with focus in ceramic formulation and processing.
  • Hands on experience with handling of ceramic powders. 
  • Hands on experience with ceramic processing such as, batching, milling, and calcination.
  • Preferred direct experience with ceramic characterization methods noted above
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong technical presentation skills
  • Strong communication, team/collaborative skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Ceramic or related field.

  • Must be a US citizen, legal permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Knowles is committed to providing a competitive and fair total compensation package for all employees.

One element in our total compensation package is base pay. The starting salary for this role is targeted to be between $70,000 to $90,000 annually.

Individual compensation decisions are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to previous experience and skills acquired prior to joining Knowles, cost of living in the assigned work location, assigned schedule, and salaries of similarly situated peers at the company. It is to be expected that candidates will come to us with different sets of skills and experiences and therefore will be paid at different points in the stated range. We recognize that the person(s) we select for hire may be less experienced or more experienced than the role as posted; if this is the case, any updates to available salary ranges will be communicated with candidates during the recruitment process.
