Summary

NG Bailey are proud to be involved in the Hinkley Point C project based in Bridgwater, Somerset.  This is the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in Britain providing zero-carbon electricity for around six million homes. NG Bailey, the UK’s leading independent engineering and services business, are proud to be part of the MEH Alliance, a joint venture to deliver the mechanical, electrical and HVAC installation for the project.

As part of recent growth on this project, we have a new vacancy for an Construction Engineer with a Mechanical bias to join us based Bridgwater and support the Site Wide Workshops Operations PM in the day to day engineering, construction planning and to understand the instillation of supports across the HPC site on behalf of the MEH Alliance.

Some of the key deliverables in this role will include:  

• Delegation of responsibilities to CE’s/Works Coordination Leads. Lead, manage and motivate the team through implementation of best practice. 
• Produce the construction packs for the cutting, welding and coating of the supports.
• Work with preconstruction to maintain 6 months rolling stock of supports and clamps based on programme.
• Return any supports to warehouse that can not be installed within the agreed KPI
• Raise RFIs and NCRs to support works in the site wide workshops.
• Oversee registers of current drawing and document revision the workshop team must deliver against. 
• Produce Weekly reports on progress against KPIs. 
• Provide and demonstrate a positive HSE leadership, building a strong and compliant HS&E culture throughout the whole construction life cycle of the Project. 
• Ensure compliance with all nuclear safety and site license requirements

What we’re looking for:  

• HNC in relevant construction discipline (Mechanical engineering) and extensive experience working in this type of role
• Proven experience of safely delivering large scale construction or engineering projects including working at a management level of authority.
• Experience in nuclear or other highly regulated sectors
• Experience in working with Joint Ventures is desirable.

NG Bailey on the Hinkley Point C Project:

We are working across both Hinkley Point C units to deliver the infrastructure that will power the station and its operations, creating 1,000 jobs including many specialist engineers. Works include the design and installation of circa 76,000 cables totalling over 3,000km in length; over 180km of cable containment support systems; fire and environmental sealing; design and installation of earthing systems, and specialist packages associated with data acquisition and plant control.
