The Nurse Educator demonstrates excellent customer service performance in that his/her attitude and actions are at all times consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission and Values of Covenant and the commitment to Extraordinary Care for every Generation.
Responsibilities:Contributes to organization success targets for net operating margin.
Participates in cost containment efforts through efficient use of supplies, services, and time management.
Adheres to unit/department budgetary practices.
Supports the organizations patient flow efforts through compliance to unit and Patient Services policies.

Demonstrates excellent customer service.
Communicates with patients and families in a professional, therapeutic, and courteous manner.
Has clinical and social contact with patients and is able to appropriately assess, care for and treat them according to the guidelines as defined by Covenant HealthCare.
Coordinates, plans, implements and evaluates unit based orientation and training and functions as a unit based preceptor.
Participates in unit based continuous quality improvement activities to improve performance and patient outcomes.
Collaborates with health care team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate inservice education programs.
Plans, develops, implements and evaluates programs/inservices to maintain and validate staff competence, facilitates tracking of orientation and competency check lists.
Monitors, documents and follows-up on all orientees as assigned, remediates when necessary.
Participates in education offerings as assigned.
Develops educational content in response to knowledge deficits and policy changes.
Maintains unit educational files on all staff as assigned.
Provides/coordinates and evaluates continuing education that meets the American Nurses Credentialing Center criteria.
Collaborates with the Central Education Specialists, Clinical Specialists and others to develop, and educate on standards of care.
Serves as a clinical resource to staff in the clinical setting to reinforce skills learned and upgrade their level of competency and professional practice.
Incorporates current research and standards of care in clinical practice education for the clinical units.
Demonstrates effective proactive situational leadership while working within the framework of Covenant’s mission, vision, and values.
Maintains professional development through seminars, workshops, inservice activities, and current professional literature.
Demonstrates clinical expertise through the provision of direct patient care and role models critical thinking and professional practice.
Documents all patient care observations and interventions in the electronic record accurately, clearly, in a timely manner following all established policies.
Participates in patient care and unit activities to achieve compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Participates in unit meetings and activities, which support unit function and the overall goals of the organization.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Current Michigan licensure to practice as a RN.
BLS required.
Minimum of three years experience in clinical area required.
Minimum of two years of education experience required.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Computer competency (Microsoft Office, Power Point and Outlook).
Knowledge of standard office equipment.
Clinical expertise.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Must be able to work well with the public and remain tactful and professional in hectic and stressful situations.
Sound judgment in handling confidential or sensitive issues and material.
Ability to develop and lead teams.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to maintain punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
Frequent standing, walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, twisting, reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing, near vision, midrange range, far vision, depth perception, visual accommodation, color vision and field of vision.
Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
