The VP of Accounting, External Reporting, and Compliance plays a critical role in safeguarding Build-A-Bear’s financial credibility by overseeing accurate financial reporting and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. This position has a significant strategic impact, driving informed decision-making and mitigating risks to support the company's long-term success.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Lead and mentor a high-performing Finance team
· Inventory, lease, and entertainment compliance and reporting
· SEC documentation oversight (10-K/10-Q, proxy statements, earnings and press releases, tables, disclosures, and tie-outs)
· Lead the preparation of consolidated financial statements
· Oversee the implementation of new accounting standards
· Lead related system implementations and upgrade
· Lead global income statement and balance sheet review meetings
· Perform technical accounting research, develop and ensure compliance with accounting policies
· Evaluate contracts to assess and address accounting implications
· Support Controller on audits and SOX compliance
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
· CPA
· 8+ years of experience in accounting and financial reporting
· Experience in a publicly traded company
· Leadership experience managing accounting teams
· Skilled expertise in SEC reporting GAAP, and other relevant accounting standards
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office
· Proficient with Microsoft Dynamics
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Master’s degree in accounting or finance
· 10+ years in accounting and financial reporting
· Experience in retail or entertainment
