The Director of Global Security is a key leader responsible for safeguarding Gibson’s executives, employees, and assets worldwide. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this role leads the strategy and execution of Gibson’s physical security, executive protection, loss prevention, and enterprise risk mitigation programs. A critical focus of this role is the protection of the CEO, requiring discretion, judgment, and readiness to travel on short notice.

The Director ensures the secure operation of Gibson facilities globally, overseeing security vendors, guard force operations, and access control infrastructure. This leader will interface with executive leadership, legal, facilities, HR, and IT to drive an integrated approach to risk management, incident readiness, and continuity planning.


Key Responsibilities

Executive & CEO Protection

  • Design and lead comprehensive executive protection programs, with direct responsibility for the safety of the CEO (and family, as needed), including domestic and international travel.
  • Assess and mitigate threats to executive personnel across corporate sites, events, public appearances, and during travel.
  • Integrate physical and digital security considerations for executive risk (e.g., geo-tracking, cyberstalking, doxxing).

Physical Security & Loss Prevention

  • Oversee security operations for all Gibson facilities, including access control, surveillance systems, physical infrastructure, and loss prevention.
  • Ensure facility readiness for emergencies and coordinate with property management and internal stakeholders to maintain a secure environment.

Vendor & Guard Force Management

  • Lead and evaluate performance of third-party security providers, ensuring service-level compliance, contractual adherence, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Implement ongoing vendor performance metrics and improvement plans across all sites.

Security Technology & Systems

  • Oversee management and optimization of physical security systems including:
    • Access control (card access)
    • CCTV/surveillance
    • Alarm and intrusion detection systems
  • Collaborate with IT and cybersecurity teams to integrate physical and cyber protections, particularly for executive security and secure travel.

Travel & Threat Intelligence

  • Utilize global risk intelligence platforms to assess political, environmental, or criminal threats to executive and company operations.
  • Build travel security protocols for high-risk or high-profile destinations.

Crisis Management & Incident Response

  • Serve as Incident Manager during emergencies such as:
    • Fires
    • Medical situations
    • Weather-related events
    • Power outages
    • Other business-impacting crises
  • Collaborate with emergency response agencies and maintain liaison relationships at the state, county, and local level.
  • Support broader business continuity planning and crisis communications with executive stakeholders.

Security Policy, Compliance & Reporting

  • Develop and enforce Gibson’s global security policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and industry requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc risk and security reports.

Risk Awareness & Training

  • Lead security awareness initiatives, including executive-level risk briefings and company-wide training programs.
  • Ensure all employees, vendors, and consultants receive security onboarding and scenario-based training.

Security Culture & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Champion a culture of safety, vigilance, and accountability across all functions.
  • Partner with HR, Legal, Facilities, and the Executive Team to build organizational resilience.

Data-Driven Security Optimization

  • Leverage analytics and reporting tools to measure the effectiveness of security programs and drive continuous improvement.
  • Identify and implement best practices and emerging technologies to future-proof security operations.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Experience:
    • 10+ years of recent law enforcement or military service required
    • Extensive corporate security and executive protection experience, ideally in a multi-site, global organization
    • Demonstrated success managing third-party security vendors and guard forces
    • Experience collaborating across functions (HR, Legal, IT, Facilities) in high-trust environments
  • Expertise:
    • Deep knowledge of access control systems, threat and risk assessments, travel security, and emergency preparedness
    • Strong understanding of integrating physical security with cybersecurity protections
    • Skilled in crisis response, continuity planning, and incident communications
  • Certifications (preferred):
    • Certified Protection Professional (CPP)
    • Physical Security Professional (PSP)
    • Other relevant credentials (e.g., Executive Protection programs, Emergency Management)
  • Technology:
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and enterprise security tools (e.g., Lenel, Genetec, Everbridge)
    • Comfortable interpreting dashboards, managing risk platforms, and presenting security data to executives
  • Other Requirements:
    • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a valid Retired Police Officer (RPO) concealed pistol permit
    • Ability and willingness to travel, occasionally on short notice, including internationally
    • Strong communication, discretion, and ability to operate with the highest levels of confidentiality
    • Experience working across cultures or international assignments is a plus
