The estimated hours for this FTE would be around 30 hours per week. This role may be shared by more than one physician.%26nbsp;%3C/p%3E%0A%3Cp style=%22font-family: Arial;%22%3EClinical Associates are not the Most Responsible Physician, and these positions are designed to provide mid-level coverage to the PICU, supporting the PICU attending physician and the rotating resident medical staff to ensure 24/7 coverage. This role will help fill code team coverage for the ACH. This role will work under the direction of a supervising physician under a multidisciplinary team setting to deliver acute patient care in the area of Pediatric Critical Care at the Alberta Children%27s Hospital.%3C/p%3E%0A%3Cp style=%22font-family: Arial;%22%3EThis role will work alongside other members of the Department including physicians and nurses to provide clinical care to pediatric patients in the Intensive Care Unit. This position will work approximately 30 hours per week mainly providing nights and weekends coverage. The PICU operates 24/7 with continuous provision of all services irrespective of the time of the day. The physician will hand over patient care directly at the end of each shift to the next team.%3C/p%3E%0A%3Cp style=%22font-family: Arial;%22%3EThe PICU provides care to 900 children per annum as mixed, closed general medical and surgical intensive care with an overall mortality of 2%. We provide extracorporeal life support, extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation, continuous renal replacement therapy, high frequency oscillation, inhaled nitric oxide therapy, as well as conventional mechanical ventilation, non-invasive ventilation and inotropic support. Qualifications:
Qualifications include an MD or equivalent, certification in Pediatrics by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or equivalent. Must have certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). Certification in Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) are desired.
The candidate must be eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
