Hybrid Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing presso Littleton Public Schools

Teacher of the Deaf & Hard of Hearing is responsible for providing standards-based instruction and direct services to students ages 3-21 who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. Provides consultation services to classroom teachers, special education teachers, and special education service providers. Provides support to students' parents. Ensures appropriate access to all components of the education program for students who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Consults with educational interpreters as it pertains to student's IEP service delivery. This position is itinerant throughout the district with focused support and instruction at our centralized locations (Gudy Gaskill, Newton Middle School and Arapahoe High School).

• Facilitate a program of educational and related services for students 3 to 21 who are hard of hearing by providing direct/consultative instructions for students in accordance with their educational plans throughout the district. 
• Ensure educational progress for students who qualify for special education services, particularly those who have a hearing loss.
• Case manage students whose primary disability is Hearing Impairment. 
• Attend department meetings and professional development.
• Attend Professional Learning Community (PLC) meetings.  
• Provide linguistically and developmentally appropriate instruction and curriculum to meet students' needs.
• Communicate with and provide resources to families. 
• Monitor utilization of program resources to maximize resource allocations.
• Communicate with students who are deaf/hard of hearing as appropriate to meet individual student's communications needs.
• Follow through with Communication Plan’s action plans within the IEP. 
• Collaborate regularly with other members of the DHH Program (audiologist, SLP, TODs,  interpreters) 
• Consult with general education teachers and other special education staff regarding instructional and behavioral accommodations and modifications to address individual student needs. Support the classroom teacher and other adults working with the student understanding the accommodations. 
• Implement individual behavior plans. 
• Provide ongoing feedback to other IEP team members. 
• Document and monitor student performance and behavior to ensure adequate achievement.
• Demonstrate ability to establish and maintain effective, cooperative relationships with multidisciplinary special education teams.
• Understand how to read, interpret and use the information from audiological evaluations.
• Support classroom teachers with troubleshooting Hearing Assistive Technology and collaborate with the audiologist regarding equipment. 
• Provide opportunities for students to have access to other deaf and hard of hearing peers and adult role models. 
• Ensure that students are provided with access (ex. HAT, interpreter) for extra-curricular activities.
