Under the direction of the Sous Chef, the Commis (Prep Cook) is responsible for all culinary dishes that are prepared in their section as well as basic prep for the Chef de Partie’s. This person must be very knowledgeable about their specialty, as well as culinary functions in general. The Commis must be very organized, must be comfortable working in a high-pressure environment, and must be able to reliably carry out orders handed down to them by the Sous Chef and Executive Chef.
This full-time role requires a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, and the ability to work evening shifts as needed.
Job Description:- Prepare, cook, and present culinary dishes requested by the Chef team while maintaining strict health and hygiene standards in the kitchen
- Assist with daily kitchen prep work and station set-up before service and maintain the highest quality food preparation standards.
- Receive, check in, and put away deliveries using FIFO standards
- Communicate with the Supervisor for support to troubleshoot problems
- Organize and manage the preparation of mis en place and production related to the kitchen and their station and communicate product needs to the supervisor
- Read and follow cooking directions and recipes
- Prepare cheese plates
- Support the Restaurant with culinary prep & execution of lunch or dinner Events when needed
- Support production of JUSTIN Grab & Go culinary program (jams, pickles, crackers, other food items made in bulk)
- Wash dishes and equipment as needed
- Minimum 1 year of culinary experience and knowledge of fundamental cooking techniques
- Knowledge of kitchen equipment operation, including slicer, food processor, griddles, French tops, ovens, burners, mixer, and knives
- Genuine passion for food and wine
- Food Handlers Card
- Demonstrate a strong ability to work well under pressure and thrive in a fast-paced working environment
- Strong time management, organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
- Have a calm and approachable demeanor
Pay Range: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills and experience.
