Description

Straighteners main responsibilities include operating and maintaining straightener machine to produce precision parts with tight tolerances. Parts can range in size, typically 10+ feet long and need to be within tight tolerances. Keen eye and precision mindset is needed to ensure finished goods are straightened without causing any damage. 

Requirements

Responsibilities:

• Operating a straightening machine and processing steel in accordance with production schedule.
• Read .0005 to .001 indicators?to determine straightening required for the part.
• Adhere to quality process by marking the part as needed.
• Inspect and measure part to determine conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments such as gauges and micrometers.
• Lift and position work pieces, manually or with hoists, and secure them safely.
• Interpret prints, work orders and determine product specifications.
• Complete internal documentation for each job as required.
• Observe machine operations to detect any problems, making necessary adjustments to correct problems.
• Perform routine maintenance as needed. 
• Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Straightener
• Experience in a machine tool and/or Job Shop environment
• Strong shop math skills
• Experience with steady rests and/or long parts
• Inspect and verify close tolerances
• Experience with heat treated materials
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
