Job responsibilities (but not limited to):
Conduct comprehensive risk assessments across various areas of the organization.
Develop risk management strategies and recommend proactive measures to minimize operational, financial, and reputational, legal, regulatory, strategic and project risks
Analyze data to identify potential risks, vulnerabilities, and opportunities.
Proactively identify and anticipate risks (including emerging risks).
Utilize quantitative and qualitative analysis techniques to identify potential risks and evaluate their potential impact on business operations.
Develop risk management strategies and recommend proactive measures to minimize operational, financial, and reputational risks.
Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and geopolitical developments to anticipate emerging risks and adapt risk management strategies accordingly.
Manage and monitor the development of the corporate risk profile and the implementation of Astron Energy Risk Management by establishing the risk profile, conducting gap analysis and intervention plans with various stakeholders including Management, Risk Subject Matter Experts to ensure principal risk affecting Astron Energy performance are effectively managed.
Engage with relevant business units and risk owners to support risk-reward consideration in decision making in line with Astron Energy's Group risk needs
Collaborate with various teams to implement risk management strategies and controls.
Prepare risk reports and communicate findings to senior management.
Participate in incident investigations and root cause analyses to identify systemic issues and implement corrective actions.
Foster a culture of risk awareness and compliance throughout the organization by delivering training sessions and promoting best practices.
Assist in developing and deliver risk management training programs to employees at all levels of the organisation. Raise risk awareness, promote a risk-aware culture.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including operations, finance, legal, and compliance teams, to implement risk mitigation measures and ensure alignment with company objectives.
Prepare risk reports and communicate findings to senior management.
Professional Qualification and Certifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Auditing/ Economics / BCom or related field.
Advantageous (CA(SA) /Certificate in Risk Management).
Have at least 2+ years Audit, Risk or Compliance experience withing the Oil and Gas industry.
Work Experience:
Proven experience in risk management, preferably within the petroleum industry or a related sector.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and identify trends and patterns.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Solid understanding of relevant regulatory frameworks and industry standards related to health, safety, environment, and operational risk management.
Proficiency in risk assessment methodologies, statistical analysis, and risk modelling techniques.
Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment and influence decision-making at all levels of the organization.
Demonstrated problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with a proactive and results-oriented mindset.
Knowledge of enterprise risk management software and tools is a plus.
