What You’ll Do
Structured Cabling Estimating & Preconstruction
- Analyze construction drawings, specifications, and site conditions to develop accurate low-voltage cabling estimates
- Perform complete takeoffs of horizontal, backbone, and specialty cabling systems including fiber, copper, OSP, and pathways
- Build itemized BOMs and labor estimates using Encore tools and databases
- Coordinate with electrical estimators to integrate raceways, conduit, and power needs
System Design Support
- Contribute to conceptual layouts and cabling designs in early-stage planning
- Review plans and flag scope gaps, inconsistencies, or RFIs
- Assist in defining rack layouts, IDF/MDF designs, and room coordination with electrical and MEP disciplines
- Work closely with preferred vendors for pricing, availability, and product selection
Proposal and Project Coordination
- Develop structured cabling scope narratives and milestone schedules for proposals
- Attend site walks and preconstruction meetings to assess field conditions and validate assumptions
- Support project turnover meetings to ensure clear handoff from preconstruction to operations
What You Bring
Experience & Technical Acumen
- 2+ years of estimating structured cabling projects (commercial, healthcare, or industrial preferred)
- Deep understanding of TIA/EIA standards, BICSI practices, and telecom room layouts
- Familiarity with cabling pathways, supports, patch panels, terminations, and labeling schemes
- Experience reading construction plans, risers, reflected ceiling plans, and one-line diagrams
Tools & Certifications
- Proficiency in takeoff and estimating tools (Excel, Bluebeam, or specialty software)
- Experience with CAD, Visio, or Revit is a plus
- BICSI certification (Installer, Technician, or RCDD) a plus but not required

Physical Requirements
- Job site travel for site walks and field validations
- Ability to sit, stand, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in office and construction environments
