For Lummus Novolen Technology GmbH in Mannheim/ Germany we are looking for a Principal Polymer Process Engineer (m/f/d) - LDPE to join our Project Execution team particularly in the field of
high-pressure parts for low density polyethylene (LDPE).
Key Responsibilities/Proficient in engineering skills like
- Design and review piping systems and equipment for pressures up to 3000 bar, including autoclaves, compressors, and high-pressure loops
- Apply in-depth knowledge of critical design figures for high-pressure components
- Demonstrate expertise in international standards and best practices for high-pressure piping design, including ASME B31.3, B31.1, PED, ISO, DIN and EN codes
- Develop and maintain piping class specifications and pipe material specification (PMS) sheets in accordance with ASME and in-house standards
- Review and assess vibration calculations and dynamic analysis for high-pressure piping and equipment
- Review and assess support systems for high-pressure lines to ensure mechanical integrity and operational safety
- Develop plant layouts considering blast loads, maintenance access, and operability
- Perform safety valve sizing and design of pressure relief systems in accordance with process safety requirements
- Lead the development and review of P&IDs for new installations and system
modifications - Lead piping engineering activities for high-pressure process units, ensuring alignment with project goals, safety standards, and client expectations
- Provide technical support during fabrication, installation, and commissioning phases
- Participate in start-up supervision, troubleshooting, and performance validation of highpressure
systems - Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and serve as the primary interface for pipingrelated matters with internal and external stakeholders
- Maintain professional communication with in-house teams, clients, and vendors to ensure clarity and alignment on technical deliverables
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Accredited engineering degree, preferred M.S. in Chemical or Process Engineering
- 5-8 years of detail process engineering experience in lead role and / or specialization
- Generally current on latest scientific and engineering methods
- Essential to have good understanding of polymer technologies
- Familiar with key equipment suppliers in the field of high pressure goods
- Knowledge in using CAE tools (SmartPlant, Comos, etc.)
- Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written, internal and external)
- Very good English language skills (verbal and written); German language skills
